It was 1894 when, in the back room of his biscuit factory in Pisticci, Cavaliere Pasquale Vena created a blend of herbs with a delicate but strong taste and unmistakable floral and citrus notes: Amaro Lucano! A few more years would pass before the prized liqueur could go beyond the borders of Pisticci and Lucania, but the amaro was able to make itself known and loved throughout Italy, reaching the living room of the Royal House of Savoy, of which the Vena family would become an official supplier. With the arrival of the Second World War, the fortunate period suffered a setback that forced production due to the lack of raw materials; despite everything, the liqueur continued to make itself known and, with the second half of the 1950s, thanks to the dedication and passion of Giuseppe and Leonardo Vena, the laboratory transformed into a real industrial reality, producing 3,000 bottles of Amaro in a year. The 80s and 90s consolidated the success with a large communication campaign, mainly on television, through which the brand was able to consolidate its notoriety on the peninsula: it is precisely in this period that the claim was born that, still today, makes Lucano immortal in the world: ‘What more do you want from life? A Lucano!’. The passion has been handed down over the generations and today Pasquale Vena, grandson of the founder, works with the same determination that has always characterized the family!
