Chinotto as a thirst-quenching carbonated drink with a black color was invented in Capranica by the entrepreneur Pietro Neri, who, passionate about products from the United States, decided to recreate an Italian drink that resembled imported Coca Cola.
It was consumed above all to aid digestion. In the post-war period, poverty was rampant, and the bread produced, which was the only thing that could satiate, was produced with low-quality wheat that remained in the stomach for hours.
Chinotto Neri was the only drink capable of aid digestion and this made it famous throughout Italy.
For its production, water from the San Rocco spring was used. Since 2011, the year in which the Capranica plant was closed and transferred to the Province of Salerno, Chin8 is no longer produced with water from the spring.
