Description

“Taurasi D.O.C.G.”

The first DOCG in Southern Italy, Taurasi is the flagship wine of Campania reds.
For this wine, Aglianico is capable of giving life to wines of extraordinary longevity, capable of remaining intact even for decades.
For our Taurasi DOCG we use grapes that come from the territories of Luogosano and Montemarano, whose soils have a calcareous matrix and, on the surface, volcanic ash from the Plinian eruptions of Vesuvius.

Winemaking technique:
The grapes are selected, destemmed and subjected to soft pressing. The free-run must is fermented with selected yeasts in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Maceration takes place at a relatively high temperature and is completed in about ten days, thus obtaining an extremely delicate and elegant wine. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for a period of at least one year. The wine is then lightly filtered and bottled. It will remain in the bottle for at least one year before being released onto the market.

Organoleptic description
The wine is bright and ruby red in color. Intense and complex on the nose, it offers aromas of plums, sour cherries and black cherries, with an attractive complement of spices and licorice. In the mouth it immediately shows off its great freshness that is accompanied by extremely fine tannins. The persistence is long, with returns of cherry and black plum. The contribution of the barrique is barely perceptible, which elegantly and discreetly accompanies the natural aromas of the wine.

Pairing
Particularly appropriate with game and mature cheeses. It also pairs very well with dishes in sauce.
In Irpinia, its land of origin, it is often drunk with grilled meats and porcini mushrooms, as well as with local cured meats such as soppressata or capocollo. Taurasi is the ideal wine to accompany dishes with strong flavors.

Serving temperature: 16 – 18 °C
